Week's Links: Sorta Awesome and a Wrecking Ball

Anyone else wake up some Mondays and wonder what happened to the last week? Because that's totally how I'm feeling today! Last week was a blur; I've been picking up more freelance work, and things have picked up at the day job. Plus James and I spent the weekend with my parents in Ada, so overall the week just flew by!

But I'm back today with another Week's Links. In case you haven't noticed, it's becoming a regular Monday series, so I hope you enjoy them!

One of the most popular posts in the When I Grow Up series was last week's interview with Kathleen! And for those of you interested in taking an e-course with Braid Creative, the deadline is Wednesday and you can sign up here.  (Don't forget you can use the code BRAIDECOURSE50 to save $25!)

I totally loved this video of three women singing songs from different decades!

And speaking of music, have you seen Anne Hathaway singing Wrecking Ball yet?  We watched it this weekend with my parents, and that song has been in my head ever since. (To my family's dismay, the only words I know are literally "I came in like a wrecking ball..." That's it!)

And I am so excited about the launch of Sorta Awesome by Megan Tietz. I've been reading her blog for years, and have been lucky enough to meet her a time or two (she's in the OKC area as well). Definitely check out her new podcast, it's going to be one of my new favorites!

I know I'm forgetting some links, but I'll share them next week when I remember them :) And fellow book nerds, get excited for Wednesday's Quick Lit post. I read way more books this month, and I can't wait to tell you all about them!

Happy Monday!

Week's Links and James's Birthday!

Tomorrow is the last day of March, can you believe it? It also happens to be my husband's birthday. The Big 2-5. (Yes, he turns 25 the same year I turn 30!)  So happy almost birthday babe! Love you :)

Ok, now on to the week's links!

This book looks incredibly intriguing. "The extraordinary love story of an American blueblood and a German aristocrat—and a riveting tale of survival in wartime Germany." Don't you want to read it now too?

I can't stop listening to the Being Boss podcast. If you're interested in entrepreneurship, freelancing, or just awesome empowering stuff, check it out. Bonus points if you check out the Facebook group too. I help moderate it, and I'm blown away by the conversations.

Firehouse cats. Do I need to say more? (You may have already seen this one on my Facebook page. I couldn't resist sharing again!)

Just checked out this book through the Overdrive app. I'm obsessed with the app, can't you tell?

And I'm incredibly disappointed in country music right now. Girl Crush is being pulled from the radio because people are ridiculous. And don't listen to lyrics. The short version of this story is that the song is being pulled because some people think it promotes the "gay agenda". Which is insane, because that song has zero to do with homosexuality and everything to do with something country loves so much: jealousy! So before you get on a soapbox about something, make sure you know what you're talking about.

Now I'll get off my soapbox and finish up the week's links on a more upbeat note. If you missed yesterday's edition of Sunday Sparkles, you missed on an update on my 100 Rejections project and this awesome quote!

Don't miss out again, sign up now And have a fabulous Monday, friends!

Friday, I'm in Love: Stuff You Missed in History Class

I've been very vocal about my podcast obsession, but I want to highlight another one of my favorite podcasts today: Stuff You Missed in History Class.

I started listening to it a couple of months ago, and I've now caught up. That's hundreds of podcasts, but y'all, it was worth it. I learned about The Boston Molasses Flood, The Stonewall Riots, Madame Lalaurie, the Radium Girls, the plot for a Nazi King, The Emu War of 1932, and the Bloody Benders. If you don't know what those are, maybe you should listen too! But really, this podcast covers all kinds of history. It isn't just American history, they talk about things from all over the world. It isn't just about a period of time, but covers everything.

I think one of my favorites is the Loving vs. Virginia episode, which covers the Supreme Court decision involving interracial marriage. This case played an important role in last year's DOMA Supreme Court decision, plus I think it is relevant given the race discussion happening now.

I also love how the podcast does little series. Sad royal childhoods, crazy royals, shipwrecks, heists...they're all covered! I love the podcasts on royalty, their lives fascinate me. And I've never been too interested in shipwrecks but goodness, they are intriguing!

So if you are looking for something to listen to on your daily commute like me, check out Stuff You Missed in History Class! I look forward to each new episode and I think you will too.
