Mourning Robin Williams
You probably know by now that Robin Williams passed away yesterday from an apparent suicide. He was 63 years old and suffered from severe depression, according to his rep. Of course, social media is filled to the brim with tweets and updates about Robin Williams, but I think the Sesame Street account summed it up best:
It makes me sad to think that a man who brought so much joy and laughter to others throughout his life suffered so deeply. He was so incredibly talented. He was a constant throughout my life thus far. From the Genie, Mrs. Doubtfire, John Keating, Peter Banning, to Sean Maguire...he has played so many iconic roles that are entrenched in my mind. He was a comedic genius. How could someone so vibrant and talented and full of life suffer from depression?
As I read up on him, this quote kept popping up.
I know there are many, many people suffering from depression. So many are suffering alone - or they feel alone. This breaks my heart. I pray that if you are one of them, that this might encourage you to reach out. I know there is someone around you who loves you. There are people who care about you. Reach out to them. Heck, if you can't think of anyone, contact me. Email me at mrsrobbinssparkles@gmail.com. Or if you don't want to do that, call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. But please, don't suffer alone.
