New York in Pictures

It's Friday and my brain is pretty much fried. It's been a week, y'all. So instead of telling you all about our New York trip today (something I've been meaning to do for weeks!) I'm just going to show you with an iPhone photo dump. You'll get the full post with pictures from my fancy camera soon, I promise!

Until then, allow me to present: our trip in pictures.

First, let's start with James. This is how he felt about arriving in Manhattan via Uber.

And this is how I felt.

A little different, right? Ok, now let's cut to later that night. It was raining but an awesome first night in NYC.

James started to warm up to the city by the end of the night. Now, let's cut to the next day. Central Park on Sunday!

Subway!

Pretty church!

Katz Deli!

Union Square Park!

And now let's go to Monday. The Today Show!

Freaking amazing Bonbons at Vosges!

Refused to stop here, but isn't this the Kardashian store?

Lombardi's Pizza!

Fire station!

Subway again!

Waiting to climb!

The view from the top of 4 World Trade Center!

After the climb!

New York Times!

And St. Patricks Day. Breakfast in bed!

The Late Show!

The How I Met Your Mother bar!

Last view before hopping in the Uber to the airport.

And that's it! I took way more pictures but this gives you the general idea. Check back for a post with details soon. This was just the Cliffs Notes :)

Must-See TV in NYC

I still haven't caught up on sleep...or work, or blogging! I have several posts in draft mode, but they aren't ready yet. Instead I'm talking about some of the super touristy things we did while in NYC. Specifically, the must-see TV spots we visited!

Last Sunday James and I had plans to meet up with a friend of mine near Union Square, so I decided we had to wander around Greenwich Village and visit a couple must-see sights.

The Friends building was an absolute must for me! I spent most of my freshman year of college watching Friends. My roommate and I owned all ten seasons on DVD and just played them on a loop. So I obviously had to make a stop here.

And then it turned out Carrie Bradshaw's stoop was right around the corner! Apparently a lot of people visit, so there was a sign up.  And there was some construction related trash right next to the stoop, but we made it work!

Finally, we went to McGee's, the bar that inspired MacLaren's Pub on How I Met Your Mother. We meant to go on Monday night, but we didn't make it until Tuesday morning. In case you forgot, Tuesday was St. Patrick's Day. A pretty big deal in the Irish pub world! We got there right when they opened at 11, and I was disappointed to find out they weren't serving their HIMYM themed drinks. I'd already decided what I wanted to drink - A Pineapple Incident. (They have a Robbin Sparkles drink, but it is Crown and Apple Pucker and sounded nasty!)

Instead James and I had two very expensive Bud Lights. We hung around long enough to finish our drinks, and then we left. I'm sure the place could be a lot of fun on a normal day, but they were definitely preparing for the St. Paddy's Day craziness.

There were other TV related sights I wanted to see, but these were the three that were must see for me! I'll be back with lots more about the NYC trip soon :)

 Previously on Mrs Robbins Sparkles...

Thank You!

It's almost 8 am here in NYC. I'm sitting in bed waiting for room service to be delivered. We were supposed to head up to the Upper West Side to have breakfast at one of the fire houses up there, but it is our last morning here and we are exhausted. James more so than me!

It's been a wonderful trip. I'll be writing about it all soon, but today I just wanted to say thank you again to everyone who made it possible. James was one of less than 100 firefighters to make the climb yesterday. He climbed with people from all over the world - New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, Seattle - and it was amazing to see all those people come together. Especially after visiting the 9/11 Memorial Museum earlier that day. I'll be sharing more pictures later, but here's one from the museum.

This was the Ladder 3 truck. Most of the men on this truck died on 9/11. I have so many thoughts on the museum; there was one voicemail in particular that I listened to that has stuck with me.

But more about that later. Now our room service is here and I am going to enjoy the last few hours we have in the city before we head home. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
